CONNECTING HR PROFESSIONALS ACROSS THE AMERICAS
This is an incredibly eventful period for employment matters across Mexico and Latin America. We expect a busy meeting and engaging discussions to help understand what is happening and how your colleagues are dealing with these important matters. Attendees are typically HQ staff, regional HR/ER leaders, and country HR/LR representatives.
Mexico will be an important focus, and we will have experts sharing the key elements of the labor reform, details of the 3 year implementation plan, the expected outsourcing limitations passed by the Senate, and how the recent 20% minimum wage increase is impacting negotiations and the employment environment. We are awaiting confirmation regarding participation from government representatives, as well. A full day will be spent on these topics. A key issue will be the strategic labor and employee relations options for employers regarding union representation and their current agreements.
There has seldom been a time of greater political turmoil with Lula released from Jail in Brazil, a new Peronist government in Argentina (who has welcomed Evo Morales after his exile from Bolivia), constitutional crisis in Chile, social unrest in Columbia, and the continuing uncertainty in Venezuela. Local experts and attorneys will include our good friends at Littler (Brazil, Venezuela and Colombia) and Funes de Rioja (Argentina).
Diversity in the region continues to be a challenge for many of us with broad commitments to employment standards. We will have a panel discussion hosted by several member companies with excellent experience share their perspective.
The 2020 meeting will again be held at the DoubleTree in North Miami Beach, and we have been able to secure a great rate commitment from them.
As always, LAMERG member companies will be able to have three attendees without any registration fees. Because of the great interest expressed by our partners at the HR Policy Association we will provide an opportunity for one attendee from non-member companies to participate for $750. Companies who are not members of either LAMERG or the HR Policy Association may nominate attendees for $1250 person.
